"Received my 98k yesterday. It is a great looking rifle. Even with the plastic stock, from a couple feet away it looks the real deal. Great WWII German working display replica.
However, out of the eight guns I have purchased from Airsoft Megastore, this is the FIRST one I have been a little disappointed in.
There are four issues with the rifle I received.
First, the screw that holds the bolt catch loosens a little each time the bolt is pulled back. This results in the bolt catch swinging out and causing the entire bolt assembly to come ALL the way out the housing when pulled back. This happened after only operating the bolt five or six times right out the box. The screw head metal was too soft to sufficiently tighten without stripping, but I was able to tighten it with pliers. However, it requires frequent retightening.
Second, there is a plastic "strip" on the bolt itself that guides the front of the bolt into the barrel. This piece constantly slides and bends and if not perfectly aligned, will keep the bolt from chambering. I have to very often hold this piece in place while at the same time pushing the bolt forward.
Third, after firing and pulling the bolt back to chamber the next round, about half the shells stick to the bolt by the rubber gaskets in them needed for the compression. So, instead of ejecting out, they just stick to the bolt and have to be pulled off.
Fourth, after having loaded all five shells into the rifle and then attempting to chamber a round, the result is jamming every time. I find I can only load two or three shells at a time without jamming.
Now, other than these issues, it is like I said, a great looking replica. I think I got what I paid for (maybe a little less). I was not expecting a perfectly exact functioning recreation of the 98K. It will look great on the my wall and to take down and play with from time to time."
