Our take: The full metal gearbox enhanced 2010 version CYMA M14 SOCOM in wood finish is one of the finest examples of an M14 SOCOM AEG on the market under $250. It features a full metal gearbox paired to CYMA's modified M14 ultra high torque motor, along with a metal barrel to help deliver that power accurately. It can keep up with the best of the big guys at only a FRACTION of the cost. With a muzzle velocity that overpowers even Tokyo Marui AEGs and a reinforced full metal gearbox, this CYMA M14 is ready to rock and roll. With a full metal precision-crafted barrel and its full metal gearbox, the CYMA M14 SOCOM shoots at an extremely high FPS without compromising its sniper-accuracy, even in full automatic shooting mode.

For 2010, the gears, piston, piston head, and hop-up assembly have been re-designed to provide a smoother power delivery, making for more powerful shots from this already-excellent M14 AEG. The motor has been swapped for CYMA's newest ultra high-torque motor for an extremely high ROF [rate of fire] never before seen on an M14, making this one of the BEST M14s on the market, bar none. With a fully charged battery, the all-new 2010 CYMA M14 is able to fire at over 800 rounds per minute at close to 400 FPS, a feat that is simply amazing!

Value wise, this M14 is the among the highest ranking bang-for-your-buck premium airsoft AEGs. With a full metal scope mount ($50 value), a rifle sling mount, batteries and charger ($50 value), and a slew of other metallic parts that make this gun all the more realistic, this gun is SKIRMISH-READY right out of the box.

Battery Charger Recommendation: Although this fully automatic airsoft rifle comes with a standard wall charger to charge the battery, Airsoft Megastore recommends the use of a smart charger to avoid overcharging the battery (overcharged batteries may cause decreased airsoft gun performance and may shorten battery life significantly). Smart chargers not only shorten charge time significantly (up to 800% faster charging), but more importantly, also automatically shut off once the battery is fully charged to avoid overcharged batteries.

on hobbytron.com there is a spring m14 that shots 390-410 fps and it is spring highly recommend to use .20 gram bbs to get better accurcy

had this gun for months, I've used it in around 10 skirmishes so far

pros
ROF
speed(may break the skin!)
stock feels nice
sturdy metal upper reciever and rail
long battery life

cons
the pin holding in the bolt catch fell out(can be easily fixed with locktight)
the battery can be hard to get in but you get used to it after around 3 times
