WE Tech Hi-Capa Airsoft Pistol: Built for performance

A Closer Look at the WE Tech Hi-Capa Airsoft Pistol

WE Tech airsoft pistols are one of the most common pistol series on the market for a reason. They offer a very affordable pistol series that perform well on the field, and their pistols are also built with the latest styles and designs. Here at AMS, we got two of the latest series of GBB pistols from WE Tech; the Hi Capa airsoft pistols and the Russian Makarov.

The New Hi Capa "Dinosaur" Series

This newest line of WE Hi Capa pistols elevate the entire series above anything its previous iterations have even dared. Now without any doubts a highly customized 1911 oriented for shooting competition performance, this line of Hi Capa pistols provide flexibility in size, power and customization in flat black or brushed-steel options.

All four versions of the Hi Capa have dinosaur names, the smallest being the "Velociraptor GBB Airsoft Pistol" and the largest being the "T-Rex Pistol". Their sizes correlate with power, as the Raptor delivers 270-300 FPS but the Rex a meaty 325 - 350 FPS. This means that players can get similar pistols but tailored to the velocity and size that suits their needs.

The basic features qualify these as 1911s with impressively upgraded furniture. To start the slide has deep grooves on the front and rear that makes racking an easy affair. The irons are alternatively colored fiber optics, meaning you get high visibility sights right out of the box. The base of the grip sports an extremely generous mag well that makes speedy reloads ridiculously easy. The textured grip, makes for a carriage that stays in your hand, even while using gloves or being exposed to water or dirt.

WE Tech also gives users space for upgrades to trick it out even further. The under-barrel rail has four slots, giving operators lots of flexibility on what they can snap onto their sidearm. Even better, each model's rear sight is easy to remove and comes with a platform that can handle a mini-reflex sight. With a sight and tactical illuminator affixed a fully loaded out Hi Capa is a really impressive affair.

All of these aesthetic bits are nice, but what people really expect is performance and the Hi Capas deliver. Right out of the box the Allosaurus and T-Rex delivered flat trajectories for about 50 feet before a gentle dropoff. The groupings for the medium to larger sizes were very sound, though the Raptor was a little bit more erratic, but that's to be expected given its lower power and shorter barrel. Hitting 3 inch diameter targets at 35 feet was easy once familiarity with the sights was achieved.

Across the board the new Hi Capa gas blowback airsoft pistols are high performing custom-style sidearms. Dense in features and with customization space in all the right places, the new Hi Capas are great for those looking for function over a military spec model.

New WE-Tech Makarov Airsoft Pistol

Mark this one under "unexpected."

If you go to WE Tech's website you'll be exposed to an impressive variety of gas blowback pistols and rifles, but on the whole it's a bunch of M4s, 1911s and other extremely familiar (not to mention popular) weapon types. But somewhere along the line someone at WE Tech got the bright idea to include an obscure Russian automatic pistol from the soviet era: and it is FANTASTIC.

The WE Makarov, like the new Hi Capa, comes in black or a fantastic brushed steel finish. The pistols are simple designs but have a lot of cool features, such as a de-cocking safety, adjustable hop up, quick disassembly, mock suppressor and a magic little barrel extension that we'll hit on shortly.

Careful eyes for weapon impressions will notice that this Makarov is not a true reproduction of the Russian service sidearm: its finish is closer to the civilian iteration of the weapon, with different grips and a different location of the lanyard. Not perfect for someone trying to recreate a specific impression, but still gives that Eastern Block style.

It's definitely a compact pistol, with a miniaturized design and low stock FPS of 275 that makes it perfect for very close-in encounters. It's super lightweight and has a surprisingly satisfying kick to each shot. But if you really want something special, screw on the included inner-barrel extension and you'll see some real magic: it will up your FPS by 100.

We're not kidding. In a remarkable example of what's known as "FPS creep," the barrel extension focuses the energy of each shot with so much more efficiency that the power is as high as 385 FPS! Unfortunately the power is so much that it puts a MASSIVE upspin on the projectile, meaning you'll need to adjust the hop up dial as flat as you can manage (it's on the rear end of the outer barrel, visible when the pistol is disassembled) and use much heavier BBs. In our tests we found that even when dipped to the lowest point, there was so much muzzle velocity that .20s were not functional with the inner barrel extension, so you're going to need at least .25g BBs to use the Makarov with the barrel extended.

The WE Tech Makarov is a great alternative to the KWA Makarov equivalent, but it does offer an alternate style to the KWA's military spec. The black and brushed steel options, matched with the mock suppressor, give the gun a serious "James Bond" spy look, making this piece as welcome tucked into a tuxedo suit as it would be in tactical gear!

WE Tech is going places

WE Tech seems to surprise people nowadays. Every so often a round of new products will sweep the market and people will find themselves shocked that these new products are WE techs: that's what reviewing these products felt like. The Hi Capa is a massively impressive upgraded 1911 and the Makarov is a unique model with remarkable performance with an amazing extension feature. If you haven't had a close look at WE Tech lately, maybe it's about time you did!

I love the pro gunbuilder by golden eagle!
The gunbuilder was very useful and made it easy for me to buy my first mid/high spec gun for just about $300. It gave me comfort in that i can get more parts to switch out at a later time if i wish to change anything about my rifle and that there will be compatible parts for any modifications i choose to do on it. The gun came in full working order and the hopup was even adjusted to be perfect right out of the box. I could easily hit targets over 150ft away constantly. Johnmstopka, USA
